What is Shiatsu Contact?
Based on Tradicional Chinese Medicine, Shiatsu was born in Japan beginning of the 20th century. It is an evolution of anma massage, which is based on Chinese massage tuina. Shiatsu relies on the theory that the energy Ki o Qi circulates through our body via meridians.
In Europe, Shiatsu has evolved in various schools. Shiatsu Contact was created by Cristina Hernando in 2012, as an evolution of Bill Palmer’s Movement Shiatsu, which uses movement experiments and experiential anatomy to help clients explore themselves and take charge of their condition. Shiatsu Contact centers on the relationship between the therapist and the patient, the physical contact as well as the emotional.
Shiatsu Contact is practiced wearing confortable clothes, on a futon on the ground. During the session, the therapist pressures the meridians and acupoints, and can use the 6 forms of contact: Earth, Metal, Water, Wood, Fire and Secondary Fire, moving the limbs and stretching the muscles.
